M.T. Filieri, Un capolavoro del Duecento: Il Crocifisso di Berlinghiero Berlinghieri nella chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta a Tereglio, Bagni di Lucca 1998

Berlinghiero Berlinghieri’s crucifix, one of the greatest and most interesting examples of 13th-century Tuscan and Luccan painting, is presented to the public after a long restoration. Inspired by the “Christus Triumphans” iconography (that is, Christ is represented as alive on the cross), the crucifix has regained its original bright polychromy -thanks to gold and lapislazuli- as well as the naturalness of its finely-depicted anatomical details.
