Lucca, Museo Nazionale di Villa Guinigi

Thanks to an agreement between the Soprintendenza and the Accademia di Scienze, Lettere e Arti (Academy of Sciences, Literature and Arts), a numismatic collection of fundamental importance for Luccan culture is presented to the public. The Soprintendenza has looked after the long restoration works and the cataloguing of the “Monetiere” so that it could be exhibited in the Museo di Villa Guiinigi. The collection, in addition to medals and seals, includes more than 500 Luccan coins datable from the first half of the 7th century to the half of the 19th century.
